That’s right people, plural, not just singular. I was on a roll. A bit ago I was browsing Craigslist to look at cute dog ads. Never realized that Craigslist also has Men seek Women ads so I got curious and looked at some and my gosh creeeeeeeeeeaapy! But there was one that was so funny and had me laughing out loud that I thought why not write a short reply. So I did. We exchanged some funny, nonsensical emails, traded photos and decided to meet. Well, the thing was that he wanted to meet at a Starbucks half an hour away from the city center (a tad bit further out from where I used to live years ago). Ugh. so I trooped all the way to almost the suburbs and I was all worried if he’d at all show up and bla. I mean, blind date! I used to be so much better at them when I was like 17. 😉
But he was there sitting at an outside table so I got myself (!!) a drink and we did some smalltalk for a while. Boooooooooooooooooooooring. Took me two attempts to even find vaguely what he does (still don’t know but he’s not a firefighter :(). My gosh it was sooo boring. So after 45 minutes and receiving a call from a guy I had met uptown the other night and who invited me to dinner I said GOTTA GO! He was just so awkward and dorky and had funky teeth. So ok lesson learned… Don’t ever bother with Craigslist etc!
I went to Target and bought some things for my party. Updated my girlfriends here about the date and that I was safe and not abducted by some weirdo.
Then I made my way back into town again and stopped half way at South Park to meet the other boy for a drink. Met that guy at some bar opening uptown and we email and he forgot my birthday so he promised me a big drink to make up for it (oh yeah I’m milking that birthday right). I finally found the restaurant and met him at the bar. Got a glass of wine and we ordered fooood and had a fun time talking and goofing around. My gosh, he really brought out my crazy silly side. Poor people around us… Haha. It was definitely nice and I had a fun time. Might be a bit of too much clowning around with the two of us but we will see. Definitely interesting. 😉
Happy Birthday!
Oh what a happy birthday I had! Thanks to y’alls for sending emails, cards, voicemails, packages and for calling! You’re the bestest ever! :-*
I was going to celebrate into my birthday a bit but I felt like I had a fever on Friday so I figured it’d be better to skip that. Saturday morning I had to get up quite early to attend a wedding with my neighbor Ash but I did manage to talk to my Dad and my Mom and Step-Dad who all called. Also got to open the first gifts. Yay! 🙂
Ash’s friend’s wedding was very nice. Really small in the backyard of the groom’s parents. Soooo nice! I totally need to get married in my Mom’s garden or find a guy with a nice yard ;-). Food was great, people were sweet as only southerners can be and the ceremony was short and sweet. People got casual right afterwards leaving Ash and I a bit overdressed (compared to shorts and flip flops for the groom e.g. ;-)). Around 2pm we cruised back home and since it was my birthday Ash circled around uptown a bit just because I love Charlotte so much. Hehe!
At night I went to the Cheesecake Factory with Tasha, Birgit, Vanessa and Ash. Poor Ash had to sit through tons of girl talk but I think he took it quite well if not even enjoyed himself…. Food was alright. I mean we normally go to places where they cook better than there, kind of a strange decision to go there for my birthday but I wanted to get a slice of cheesecake from there. The cocktails were good, though!! 😉 I got the sweetest gifts from the crew and they all sang happy birthday with the waitress (for some reason no other waiters were there to sing that late…). We got out of there around 11 and seeing that we’re all old now we just decided to call it a night and party some other time.
Sunday I didn’t really do much to be honest. Ate my birthday cheesecake, did laundry, read, chatted with my stupid, hot neighbor, tidied the house a bit and then got an invitation to dinner from David to make up for his forgetting my birthday. Perfect since I was too lazy to cook and didn’t feel like eating out either. So I drove to Ballentyne and D cooked mussles and then some fantastic grilled salmon on spinach salad with cranberries, pine nuts, goat cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette. YUMMY!!! He said he didn’t have desert except for some M&Ms but then he actually whipped out an ice-cream cake with candles and the whole spiel! Wow! Too bad we don’t have chemistry going on between us! What a man! Watched a bit of golf and then I drove back up to my place seeing that I was getting tired (again, I’m getting old…). (Next day he wrote me “sorry I tried making out with you” I was like “huh? you tried to make out with me?!” “Big time!” I am sooo oblivious… Won’t recognize anything until it hits me square in the head.. duh…. Need to be more attentive to detail…)
Yesterday Giorgio and Massimo took me out for my birthday lunch and I came home to even more cards and packages (thanks you guys!!!).
Friday is going to be my birthday party so if you’re in the area, stop by!! 🙂
Date Night
“He wants a woman that, while she holds herself with class, also protrays that she wants him as much as he wants her. He wants someone that will play with his emotions sexually, someone that will tease him, force him to chase her and yet will also allow him to capture her… a little bit at a time :-)” (source)
Well said but it’s pretty darn hard to be all that even though I’m trying really hard! Arg!
Wish me luck tonight, the hottie and I are going to cook.
Nice Weekend
How was everybody’s weekend?
Mine was really nice, I feel like I made good use of it. Started out nicely with an after work beer at the Gin Mill with Ash, Luca and their coworker and her husband. Then my other neighbor and I went to dinner at the fancy Providence Cafe and we saw some pro golfer, Charles Howell III. We had all the golf hunks in town as the Wachovia Championship was last week. The maple glazed trout I ate and the spinach-artichoke dip were super yummy. It was actually pretty cool because I had been craving trout a couple of days before that and was wondering where I could get some. So yay.
I was very productive on Saturday. I cleaned the house and did two loads of laundry before going to Target and spending way too much money. Well, I had to get a mother’s day gift and then they had some cute shorts and shampoo and conditoner and Windex and so on and well it all added up….
Grocery shopping and then I met Birgit at Starbucks and got cappuccino in a real mug (because cappuccino just doesn’t taste good out of a card board cup in my opinion). Funnily enough there were two German ladies sitting at the neighboring table. We’re everywhere…..
Saturday night Luca, Ash and I went to Mezzanotte for some pizza and then to Tyber Creek for some drinks and that was fun. It’s just so nice to be able to sit outside at 10pm in a t-shirt and then walk home. I love it!
Sunday morning I went all out and had greek yoghurt with fresh berries, orange juice and home made cappuccino (better than Starbucks…) on my front steps and read US weekly for like 2 hours. Hmmmm. So nice!
I went to pilates class at 2pm and that was awesome. I felt realllllly good afterwards though today my back feels as if it’s bruised from all that rolling around. Well, as if that wasn’t enough, after showering and lounging around the house for a while I walked to Home Depot (that’s 2+ miles away). Yeah really stupid to do that when it’s 26C and sunny outside. So while I was walking I thought, oh, 2+ miles… that’s more than 3km. Oh, walking there and back that’s like 7km. Dahamn. Let’s just say I was kind of sick of walking when I got there and walking with a clay flower pot wasn’t the coolest thing to do either. Duh! Stupid Sandra. Luckily my neighbor just text messaged me when I left the store so he came to my rescue and I got to ride home in an airconditioned car. Glueck gehabt.
So then I drove to Dean & Deluca at Phillips Place to celebrate Andrea’s birthday. He made sure we all had enough Prosecco and food infront of us and it was really nice to sit outside and catch up with everyone.
Afterwards (oh yeah the weekend is still not over…) we had a little neighborhood hang-out on the sidewalk just like last summer. Great fun to catch up with the guys who I hadn’t seen in forever or who moved away and slurp some beer (Becks ;-)).
So yes, it was a slam packed weekend, loads of fun. How was yours?
Smoochie!
